The Awakening

As my eyes opened
a sea of burning bodies
embraced me.

Charred souls writhing in pain
Twisting in agony from the heat of the flames
They screamed as the blaze crept up to their lips

A sight of pure horror

One by one they died
They fell to the ground
with eyes burning
hellish red

A great cry for mercy was heard

And then
during the massacre
The ground opened
Demons came out to drag the ones that died
and beheaded each one
as they threw them to the pit

The epitome of violence and carnage
The land became red from the mixture of blood and flames

Death
Incineration
Mutilation

I closed my eyes
thinking it was a dream
but I was further shocked
realizing that it was no nightmare

And in the middle of the bloodbath was a child
peacefully calm and smiling
he held a man's head
he played with it
and tossed it in the air

Innocence in the midst
of the assault of Hades

The fear that was gripping me
poured out of my soul
in the form of a howl
that silenced Chaos

I trembled as they looked my way

The child walked towards my shadow
Grinning as he stepped on the corpses

Shocked
I realized
that the child
the souls
and the demons


All
